31st May 2017

Wow! What a night we had on Monday 15th May for our Launch Party, thank you so much to everyone who came along and signed up to StartEast on the night.

With a packed out auditorium at the brilliant DanceEast – who were showing off their frankly swanky new look in the foyer – we had an evening of funk, dancing, laughs, and most importantly, some pretty inspirational people talking to us about their amazing enterprises.
Our compare for the evening, Helen Wilson, Chair of the New Anglia Cultural Board, gave us some background to the project and introduced our invited speakers. Elli Chapman told us about the fantastic work she does with young people in the region and how she overcame personal challenges to build her hugely successful business Culture Works East. We were treated to an interactive digital art installation and the story behind the project from Jim Horsfield at AsDescribed who is also one of our brilliant advisors. Sarah Holmes, Executive Director for The New Wolsey Theatre, who are the delivery partner for StartEast, let us in on her excitement for the project and the future of the arts in East Anglia, and of course our own Project Director Laura Norman gave us an inspirational tour of the aims of the project and how we hope to contribute to the growth and sustainability of creative enterprises in this amazing region. Speeches were followed by seven piece funk band, The Normans, who got us moving while loads of you signed up for the project on the night.

So now we’re officially launched, what’s next? Well we want to hear from you – let us know you’re interested in being a part of the project by contacting us and register to attend one of our upcoming Network Jams where you can start to get expert advice to forward your own creative enterprise. We can’t wait to see you and start working with you to build your business.
